There's an old phrase you should keep in mind, "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Not really, technologically. IN that respect, we are living in the twenty-fourth century. Just check out any Star Trek before Deep Space Nine. The only things we don't have are Warp Drives and Holodecks.

But peoples Mindsets have not changed. In fact, the more things Change, the more too many people fight to take them back Before those Changes. 'Change is Baaad. We can pretent it Tain't Happenin'!'

And yes, those on the religious part of the spectrum, are fighting back the hardest to Take Things Back to the Way They Were. Depending on the person, that's back to the 1950s -- or back to the 1850s. Waaay Back. LIke Exhorcist "Mommy! Make it go Away!" back.

And no, we are not going to see 2030 at this rate, much less 2430, unless People Change. And quickly. The degradation of the Environment is not going to wait for those who insist on 'taking us back' to the fractured Past they love so much.

Sorry. We are now in the late stage four cancer that Religion hath wrought. That backlash to the technological (and teleological) gains that we've experienced, is not going to help us Survive.
