Oh, What a Piece of Work is Man
--
Indeed. What a ‘Piece’ these Days, but no Peace seeming to be Found. Anywhere.
“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” — Robert J. Oppenheimer, just after the First Nuclear Blast above.
So on the heels of my blog yesterday about, ‘If there’s Aliens out there, why don’t they want to com and play with us…’ is this post.
The Answer is most of Mankind does not know how to “play well with Others.” The answer to most of our problems, is ‘nuke it,’ or “Let’s Show Them!”
Most of man’kind’ does not have “infinite wisdom,” but very Finite Wisdom. Usually extending to the ends of our noses.
The full quote from Hamlet was:
“What a piece of work is a man, How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, In form and moving how express and admirable, In action how like an Angel, In apprehension how like a god, The beauty of the world, The paragon of animals. And yet to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor Woman neither; though by your smiling you seem to say so.”
He was (of course), being ‘not nice’ in his ‘assessment.’
So I’m reading the Eight Book from the science fiction series that became the Netflix show, “The Expanse.”
In it, one man has used an alien molecule to make (or try to make) himself Immortal. He thinks that mankind needs to be directed from a ‘higher perspective’ — His.
The Books (and the Series) deal with an (as yet to me, as I’m only halfway through this Book Eight out of Nine) Ancient (as in billions of years old) Extraterrestrial ‘Force’ that destroyed a previous Civilization “before we evolved from apes.”
This Man above, has decided that this Force is the main Enemy of Mankind, and do he decides to throw the equivalent of 100 atomic bombs at it to make a point that Man must be taken seriously. (Seriously.) Needless to say, this only provokes this Force to do what it did to the previous civilization.
And This, is usually what mankind does to anything it doesn’t understand.
Now do you have a good clue as to why the Extraterrestrials ‘don’t want to come out an play?’
